Skill development and refinement
Coaching Objectives
- Basic movement Literacy – balance, gliding, kicking, agility and breathing
- Control of large muscle groups (gross movement), Improve fine motor control
- Build technique and improvement of 4 strokes
- Repetition of skills
- Starts turns
- Increase stamina
- Basic rules of swimming
- Use of equipment
- Awareness of pace clock
Sessions available – 4 x 1 hour sessions (winter) 3x 1 hour sessions + 1 x 1.5 hour session (summer)
Criteria
- Swim 2-3 strokes competently and repeatedly over 25 metres
- Dive start
- Correct breathing technique for strokes
- Do a mixture of drills and kick
- follow instructions given by the coach
Final decision is at the discretion of the coaches.
You should be entering competitions suitable depending on ability.
